EVERGREEN SUPERTANKER DEPLOYS TO MEXICO
The one-of-a-kind aircraft has made multiple drops in Coahuila.

McMinnville, Ore. USA, Friday, April 15, 2011 — Evergreen International Aviation, Inc., announced today its Boeing 747 Supertanker aircraft has been deployed to Mexico to extinguish ongoing fires in the state of Coahuila. The Evergreen Supertanker has already flown multiple missions into Mexico over the last two days, dropping up to 20,000 gallons of fire retardant per mission on a large complex located throughout Coahuila’s rugged terrain.

The Evergreen Supertanker is currently based at Port San Antonio in Texas and is under contract with the Mexican government through the Comision Nacional Forestal (CONAFOR).

The Evergreen Supertanker is the largest aerial firefighting aircraft in the world and can carry nearly 20,000 gallons of water, retardant or other fire agents. It also has the highest dash speed of any firefighting aircraft, allowing it to deploy half way around the world within a day. The aircraft is a converted B747-100 cargo aircraft, which also allows the crew to take all of its support equipment inside the aircraft when deploying.

Evergreen, which was founded in 1960 by Delford M. Smith and is based in McMinnville, Ore., has a proud 50 year history of firefighting operations throughout the U.S. and around the world.
